European Medicines Agency

The EMA is responsible for the scientific evaluation of medicines developed by pharmaceutical companies for use in the European Union (EU). The Agency also works to promote and protect public and animal health by:

 

– Providing a single point of access to information on human and veterinary medicines

– Coordinating scientific activities

– Supporting the work of the European Commission and the Member States on medicines.

 

The EMA was established in 1995 and is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
